Sleepy Sunday morning blog from beneath the covers. I actually think a Snuggie or a Slanket would be really convenient right now.
I took the lit GRE yesterday, and it was easy as pie. I took Friday off of work to do some last minute studying, but in fact there was no reason to. Maybe 1% of what I studied was on the exam. I bought a Princeton Review book to help me study, but almost nothing they suggested studying was part of the test. Better to be overprepared, I suppose, but I was all stressed over nothing. It was just literary analysis, which you can’t study for if you don’t already know how to do. Lucky for me, I do. :] So I got up at 5:30 yesterday morning after all of 2 hours of sleep, drove to Wilmington to take the test, and drove back to sleep for three or four hours. I took a bunch of pictures of the sky, since I was somehow the only person on I-40 yesterday morning for 125 miles.
Last night Cait and I went to Neptunes, which I guess is like the new Jackpot, and evidently our new spot since we’ve been there all month. Dancing and cheap beer. I love it there because I always run into people I haven’t seen in forever. It’s sort of like having a house party but you don’t have to clean up when everyone leaves and there are cute bartenders. I managed to hurt my neck somehow yesterday, and I don’t know if it’s from dancing or driving for so many hours. Either way- oww.
I am so excited about Thanksgiving. Time off of work to slow down and think about real life, Kaye will be home, yummy food… I found this great list of vegetarian Thanksgiving recipes. The quinoa bread and Thai pumpkin soup are calling to me.
I recently stumbled on the photography of Claire Martin. Her “Slab City” series is haunting, to say the least. I adore her work. Also found Andrey Yakovle. I love the clean lines. If I was a model, those would be exactly the kinds of photos I would want to do. Every single photo is so. good. My particular favorites: 1, 2, 3, 4
So, I realize this may be ridiculous, and perhaps a temporary impulse, but being that it’s marathon season and everyone’s talking about them, it’s gotten under my skin and I’ve really been thinking about trying to run a marathon next year. The Fat Cyclist ran the NYC Marathon last weekend with his girlfriend and wrote a great blog post about the whole experience. I really recommend watching the time-lapse video of the race start across the Brooklyn Bridge. It’s incredible. Al Roker ran it. My friend Meg ran one here in Raleigh. Reading some other runners’ accounts, I think what I find appealing is the process. The mental game over physical stamina. However, I’ve always hated running and whether I can learn to love it or not is yet to be determined.
Today I need to go to A.C. Moore and buy craft supplies for Christmas presents, figure out what I’m making for dinner, clean, and do laundry. Aaaaaallll I want right now is huevos rancheros from that Argentinian restaurant in Brooklyn. I had a dream about them last night. Um. <3
Finally, the cutest kitten video ever:

Those kitties died
I’ve been thinking about running a marathon too! It’s a great way to get in shape/build stamina.
what?! how did the kitties die?! cute kitty heart attacks?
that makes me so sad.
really?! it must be in the air! yeah, i can’t think of a better way! i wish you lived here. we could train together!
